Guidance for No-Trace Camping
The Neon Prairie Festival strives to implement Leave No Trace principles and practices while camping at the festival with a foundation based on respect for the natural habitat and our fellow wildland residents. To follow our P.R.A.I.R.I.E. principle of Remember the land we encourage the following guidelines.
Plan and Prepare
Be aware of the concerns and impact you can control within the ecosystem you are camping in.
Be ready for extremes both for weather and emergencies.
Repackage food and any items to minimize waste.
No Trace Practice
Pack-in and Pack-out is the preferred action. There will be both refuse and recycling opportunities while attending the festival.
If cleaning camping materials and equipment, carry water away from natural waterways and please use biodegradable soap.
Leave What You Find
Preserve the past and be thoughtful of any cultural or historic structures or artifacts at the festival.
Leave natural elements such as rocks, plants, and other objects as you find them.
Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches from materials found on location at the campsites or anywhere on festival grounds.
Respect Wildlife and Be Considerate to Fellow Campers
Observe wildlife from a distance while camping, do not chase or follow them. Never feed an animal and protect them by storing your food and trash securely.
Protect the quality of others' experience, be courteous and late at night, let nature's music prevail and try to avoid excessively loud voices and noises.
